My Favorite Aria
I know it has been waaaaaaaay too long since my last post....Wilmaryad will agree :) So....having said that and admitting my fault, I am starting my first post of the year 2010 with a sublime aria I happened to think of today and searched on YouTube. Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix written by the composer Camille Saint Saens for the opera Samson et Dalila. I searched through various well known mezzo-sopranos but not finding the one voice I recalled quite vividly in my youth. One mezzo led to another and yet another until I stumbled on a singer whom I had never heard but INSTANTLY knew it was the voice from my past! I was absolutely thrilled and started to cry. After listening to the performance I came down to reality and looked at the information. I started to laugh because it was a Romanian mezzo-soprano by the name of Elena Cernei. You are wondering why I laugh at this? It is because the beautiful soul I have fallen head over heals for happens to be Romanian as well and it struck me as such a coincidence :) Try to tell me this aria does not move at least part of your heart!

Yes....I replayed it throughout the day and I am sure that it drove my landlord crazy :) It also has such a calming effect to it. Also, it will help me possibly with my French studies ;)
I know the feeling of hearing something that plunges you back to childhood. It's a bittersweet feeling, isn't it?
Now, French studies? This is something I ignored ... :)

@ Wilmy..Yes, it was a bittersweet feeling but more sweet than bitter so I could overlook that and enjoy the music and divine singing :)
You did not ignore the fact I have now taken up the studying of French (which I think is a tough language to pronounce so far) because I will need to know it eventually :) This is the first time you have seen me type it out for you to see and you picked up on it quickly...:D

I need to learn French because it coincides with my ultimate goal of moving to Brussels, Belgium. My relationship with Iulian has gotten quite serious and his goal is Brussels because it is the epicenter of his vocation, human rights activist. I on the other hand can find work doing most anything :)
Belgium again? When will I stop being brought back to it through either a briend, an ex or an ex(s ex? :p Too much of a coincidence, don't you think? lol
Now, I am sitting here eyes wide open that my eyebrows have disappeared into my hair. I had NO idea your ultimate goal was to move to Belgium!!!

I didn't really know until just a short time ago myself that I actually wanted to move there but since my relationship with Iulian has gotten quite serious it is a reality :) I would like to see the eyebrows into the hair trick LOLOLOL!
A lot has happened in each of our lives since we seriously spoke last my briend. Unfortunately, time that can not be retrieved.
Whatever you choose to do, know that you got my support and your happiness means something to me.

I also like Marilyn Horne's Metropolitan Opera's Centennial Gala performance of the same Mon Coeur s'ouvre a ta voix.... It's also on You Tube. It was probably her last performance, as she was getting "long in the tooth".... But a beautiful, deep, controlled voice. It's my favorite... (after Stjelpan of course)
